BUHLER - Gladys Mae Willis, 103, died May 28, 2006, at Buhler Sunshine Home.
She was born March 8, 1903, in Rosendale, Mo., the daughter of George Irvin and Laurabell Yoder Swartz. A longtime area resident, she was a retired sales clerk for Jett Mercantile Co., Pratt, a former sales clerk for Long's Clothing and a butcher for Dillons and Mammel's Grocery Stores, all in Hutchinson.
She was of the Christian faith.
On June 30, 1920, she married Edward Willis in St. Joseph, Mo. He died Oct. 20, 1969.
Survivors include: a son, Edwin Willis, Buhler; a daughter, Juanita Ayers, Hutchinson; 22 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; 64 great-great-grandchildren; a great-great-great-grandchild; and several nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Charolean Haen and June Massey; nine brothers; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, with Pastor Wayne Johnson presiding. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park.
