Obituary

Gladys Mae (Holloway) Zumalt, 88, of Hutchinson, Kan., died unexpectedly on Wednesday morning, February 22, 2017, at the home she shared with her daughter, Charlotte, in Lake Elsinore, Calif, for the last four years. She was born on March 12, 1928, in Monahans, Texas, the daughter of Walter Clyde Holloway and Anna Mae Belle Tyson.

Gladys was a quiet and private person, who deeply loved her children and grandchildren, as well as her beloved pets. After a life of hard work, she retired from Eaton Corporation at 62. Her hobby then became gardening at her home in Hutchinson. She cherished her home and was proud to have achieved it. The deep affection she felt for all that she loved is evidenced by the many pictures she took over the years. She also was an adventurer and loved to travel.

She is survived by: her beloved son, Earl Lynn Vines, and "adopted" daughter, Patricia Gianakon, both of Hutchinson, and daughter, Charlotte Ebbert of Lake Elsinore, Calif.; sister, Mavis Dick of Hutchinson; brother, Clyde Holloway of Arkansas; beloved granddaughter, Felicia Gomez of Phoenix, Ariz.; and grandchildren, David, Theresa, and Daniel Pederson, and Damien Gomez, all of Hutchinson, and Kamran Michael Tabatabayi of California; numerous great- grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by: her daughters, Dalyne Gomez, on May 30, 2002 and Marsha Pederson, on March 9, 2013; and many brothers and sisters.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 11, 2017, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Kim Biery presiding. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday, with the family to receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS. In lieu of memorials, the family would like beautiful flowers as beautiful as Gladys was to surround the casket.
