Glen Olen England, 71, died March 23, 2006, at his home, Hutchinson.
He was born Jan. 22, 1935, in Anderson, Mo., the son of Leamon Lawson and Pearl May Smith England. He graduated high school at the Yokosuka, Japan Naval Base. A resident of Hutchinson since 1944, he worked for Kelly Mills and Rainbow Bakery.
He belonged to the Baptist faith, Nickerson USD 309 school board, and Sam Price Karate School. He served in the U.S. Navy, as a corpsman on the USS St. Paul from 1955 to 1959.
On April 6, 1953, he married Mary L. Daines in Hutchinson. She survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Troy A., and wife, Tracie, Haven, and Russell L., Wichita; a foster son Jack Reed, Hawaii; a brother, Alvin, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Jamie and Alyssa England, of the home, and Kayla, Jakeb, and Samuel England, Haven.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a stepfather, Lee Stewart; three brothers, Paul England, Jim Stewart, and Bobby Stewart; and an infant brother; and a sister, Ethel Poteet.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Fairlawn Burial Park, with Chaplain Melvin Walton presiding, with military graveside rites conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard. Friends may sign the register from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to noon Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, the casket will be closed.
