Gloria J. Hempstid's Obituary
HAVEN - Gloria J. Hempstid, 88, died Dec. 21, 2007, at Hospice House.
She was born Nov. 11, 1919, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Guy and Mabel, Burris Swanson. She was a graduate of Hutchinson High School and Kansas State University. She was the Co-Owner of Hempstid Variety Store in Haven for over 40 years. She attended the Haven United Methodist Church, and was a member of the PEO and Chapter BL.
On Oct. 28, 1945, in Hutchinson, she married Richard Hempstid. He died June 3, 1995.
Survivors include: a nephew Tom Beal and wife Julie, Haven; a niece Jean Beal, Haven; a great-niece; and three great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by: a sister, Joanne Beal; and a Nephew, Mike Beal.
Funeral will be at 10 am. Monday, at the Haven United Methodist Church, with the Rev. John Wright presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary.
Burial will be in the Burrton Cemetery.
