Grace Teresa Cox, 89, died May 1, 2008, at Mennonite Manor, South Hutchinson. She was born Sept. 17, 1918, in Diamond Township, Burke County, North Dakota, the daughter of Michael and Alfreda Johnson Conway. She was raised in LaCrosse, Wis., and was a resident of Hutchinson since 1962. She received her education at St. Michael's Catholic High School, LaCrosse, Wis. She was a seamstress at Wiley's and Pegues.
She was of the Catholic faith. She belonged to Women of the Moose Chapter No. 1371 and Fraternal Order of Eagle's Aerie No. 2550.
She married Raymond Orland Shong in Minot, N.D. He died Jan. 3, 1956. On Aug. 4, 1972, she married Raymond H. Cox in McPherson. He died Aug. 11, 1995.
Survivors include: a son, Richard F. Shong, Cisco, Texas; two daughters, Caroline McKee, Hutchinson, and Stella M. Owens, Topeka; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a son, Russell R. Shong, a great-grandchild, a brother, Robert Conway, and a sister, Alyce C. Sulzer.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with Chaplain Randall Turner presiding. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum.
