INMAN – Grover Eugene Thayer, 77, died June 28, 2014, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson. He was born Feb. 17, 1937, in Lincoln, to Grover Clarence and Mabel Louise Ashton Thayer.

He is a 1954 graduate of Lincoln High School. He had worked for ADM Milling Company and was a janitor for Inman High School for 10 years.

On Nov. 25, 1979, Grover married Ann Sperry. She survives. Survivors include: children, Robin Thayer of Salina, Kan., Grover Eugene Thayer Jr. of Inman, Tony L. Mark of Sedgwick, Dawn Jones and husband Rusty of Neodesha; sisters, Pat Ashmore and husband Dan of Salina, Peggy Nolt and husband Tom of Blue Springs, Mo.; brother, Leroy Thayer and wife Lynn of Prescot Valley, Ariz.; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael E. Thayer; daughter, Jody Ann Thayer; grandson, Shane Thayer; and brother, Dean Thayer.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 3, 2014, in North Inman Cemetery, with Pastor Dwight Crater presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with family to receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
