Gwendolyn J. Barton's Obituary
Gwendolyn J. "Gwen" Barton, 78, died Sept. 5, 2006 at Hutchinson Hospital.
She was born Sept. 9, 1927 in Kinsley, the daughter of Will E. and Myrtle E. Keener Johnson.
She graduated in 1945 from Hutchinson High School. a lifetime Hutchinson resident, she was a retired cashier at the former Alco North Store.
She belonged to Faith United Methodist Church, Highlands Golf and Supper Club and Order of the Eastern Star, Silver Leaf Chapter No. 464.
On June 25, 1945 she married Leslie W. Barton in Hutchinson. He died July 5, 1995.
Survivors include: a son, Larry D., Mesquite, Texas; two daughters, Nancy O'Sullivan, Jamestown, NC and Sally Olson, Overland Park; a brother Don Johnson, Eugene, Ore.; eight grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, David and Richard E. Johnson; and a sister, Patricia E. Dryden.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson with Pastor Bones Nay presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
