Harlan David Gitchell, 71, died Feb. 16, 2015, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born March 2, 1943, in Hutchinson, to Howard and Freda (Fox) Gitchell.
He worked for National Cash Register (NCR) for 30 years before retiring in 1994. After retirement, he worked for Dillon Store Services for 15 years. Harlan enjoyed golfing in his free time and was a member at Highlands Golf Club where he proudly got the "Highland Hole in One". It was one of his most treasured memories. He married Penny Berridge on July 14, 1963, in Nickerson. She survives.
Other survivors include his sons, Marty Gitchell and wife Amy, and their children, Eloise, Grayson, and Owen, all of Minnesota, Brian Gitchell and his children, Logan, Ally, and Rylee, all of Nickerson; daughter, Carmon Gitchell Unruh and husband Darrin and their children, Pepper and Gabi, all of Pretty Prairie; sister, Jaci Gitchell, Arlington; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Virginia Adams.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m, Friday, February 20, 2015, at the Nickerson United Methodist Church with Reverend Melissa Naylor presiding. Burial will be in Wildmead Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with the family to receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
