Obituary

Harlen F. Lingerfelt, 95, died July 24, 2012, at his home in South Hutchinson. He was born Sept. 26, 1916, in Reno County, to H. Frank and Eliza Della Edgmon Lingerfelt.
Harlen graduated from Alden High School in 1934, attended Hutchinson Jr. College, and graduated from Coyne Electric and Radio School in 1936. He became a journeyman electrician and worked at the trade until retiring in 1978, and was a 70-year member of IBEW Local #661. He joined the U.S. Navy and served in the South Pacific area during World War II.
He married Thelma Carpenter on May 29, 1937, in Newton. She died June 3, 2007. He is survived by: son, Larry Lingerfelt and wife Mary of Moorpark, Calif.; sisters, Arless Earle of Brownsville, Texas, and Isabelle Sauer of Winfield; brother, Lawrence Lingerfelt of Port Angeles, Wash.; numerous nieces and nephews and in-laws. Harlen was preceded in death by: his parents; two sisters, Thelma and Virda; and a brother, Millard.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2012, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, with Chaplain Art Maddock officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson, with military graveside honors conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at the mortuary.
