Obituary

Harold D. Conrad, 89, died Sept. 26, 2011, in Joplin, Mo. He was born May 24, 1922, in Windom, Kan., to Carl Werner and Sadie Elizabeth (Rainey) Conrad.

Harold graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1941, and the School of Hard Knocks in 2011. He was a farmer and cattleman. Harold was a lifelong Reno county resident until November 2007, when he moved to Joplin, Mo. to live with his daughter, Rebecca.
On June 16, 1944, he married Lillian Lucille Davis in Hutchinson. She died July 27, 2002.

Survivors include: two daughters, Joan Conrad Showalter and husband C.B. of Haven, and Rebecca Conrad Loden and husband Donald of Joplin, Mo.; 11 grandchildren, Ann Showalter Hopkins, Wade Showalter and wife Stephanie, Penny Showalter Glacet and husband Andre, Amy Loden Tiffany, M.D., and husband Curtis, J.D., Joshua Loden, J.D., Jason Loden, D.O., and wife Teresa, D.O., Rachel Loden Nevill and husband Blake, Stephanie, Joseph, Jeremy, and Jonathan Loden, of the home; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, C.W. Conrad and Sadie Conrad Brucker, and a brother, Warren C. Conrad.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, 2011, at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Melvin Walton officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Memorials may be made to Westside Baptist Church Awana Bible Club, Hutchinson, or Forest Park Baptist Church Awana Bible Club, Joplin, in care of the mortuary.
