Obituary

Harold J. "Bob" Doerksen, 77, died Nov. 20, 2007, at Hutchinson Hospital.

He was born April 28, 1930, in rural Inman, Kansas, the son of Jacob W. and Kathryn A. Ediger Doerksen. He attended country schools in Inman. A longtime Burrton resident, he was a power plant manager at K.S.I.R., Hutchinson.

He belonged to Zion Lutheran Church and the Curry-Ross American Legion Post No. 247, Mt. Hope. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, serving on the U.S.S. Edmonds and the U.S.S. Taussig.

On Sept. 29, 1957, he married Esther Jane Westfahl in Burr-ton. She survives.

Other survivors include: five daughters, Cindy Raedeker, Las Vegas, Melinda Beaty, Hutchinson, Brenda Blackburn and husband Tim, Lakin, Kansas, Beverly Carlson and husband Eric, Gardner, Kansas, and Julia Doerksen, Imperial, Neb.; a brother, Martin, Hutchinson; five grand-children; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ed Doerksen; and four sisters, Edna Ediger, Verna Severtson, Sue Previtera and Mildred McMurray.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Robert Albin and the Rev. Henry J. Hartman presiding. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Valley Township Cemetery, near Haven.
