Obituary

Harold E. Grandon, 85, passed away May 6, 2015, at Kansas Medical Center, Andover. He was born Feb. 12, 1930, in Burrton, to Claude Wesley and Sarah Inez (Hale) Grandon.

Harold graduated from Haven High School in 1948. He was drafted into the Army in January 1952, and stationed in Missouri, California, and Austria. Harold was a carpenter and oil field pumper for Homestake. He was a member of the Burrton United Methodist Church and lived in Burrton his entire life. He gave unconditional love to his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

On Oct. 28, 1951, he married Reta Fern Edwards in Burrton. She passed away Aug. 23, 2010. Survivors include: son, Edward Grandon and wife Nonie of Wichita; daughters, Jewell Rayl and husband George of Burrton, Janet Blank of Burrton, and Sandra Hinkle and husband Mark of Colwich; 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; and sister, Maryetta Kelley and husband John of Enid, Okla. He was preceded in death by his wife, Reta; his parents; sister, Ruby Revak; and brothers, Paul and LeeRoy Grandon.

Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 11, 2015, in Burrton Cemetery. Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 11, 2015, at Burrton United Methodist Church with Pastor Kim Benson presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, Hutchinson. Memorials may be sent to Burrton United Methodist Church, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
