Harold Ray Kelley Jr., 77, died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2010, at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson.
He was born Oct. 30, 1932, in Iola, the son of Harold Ray Sr. and Mary Ellen Burns Kelley.
He was a 1951 graduate of Iola High School, attended Iola Junior College and was a 1955 graduate of Pittsburg State University. Harold was a member of Sigma Tau Gamma and Hutchinson Civitans. He loved to travel, loved the game of golf and was very proud of his service to his country with his involvement in the Army Signal Corps. He was retired from Great American Life Insurance Company as first vice president and secretary.
On Jan. 24, 1959, he married Beverly Jean Roberts in Lawrence. She died July 25, 1990. Then on June 6, 1992, he married Nyrna M. Setty in Hutchinson. She survives.
Other survivors and their spouses include: a daughter, Kathryn K. Joyner and fiance Bruce Jackson, Hutchinson; stepdaughter, Kim and Kent Norton, Wichita; stepson, Kent and Lisa Setty, Overland Park; a sister, Mary Margaret Davis, Colorado Springs, Colo.; six grandchildren, Paul Joyner, Kylie Norton, Chase Norton, Cameron Setty, Kira Setty and Courtney Setty.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kolleen Kay Kelley, and his parents.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 23, 2010, at Elliott Chapel, with the Rev. Pat Ault-Duell and Richard Ratzlaff officiating. Friends may call 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Elliott Mortuary. Military graveside honors will be conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson.
