Harold Junior Milburn, 87, died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014. He was born Aug. 22, 1927, at Abbyville, the son of George Harold and Eva Cora (Feese) Milburn.
He was a 1945 graduate of Abbyville High School, a Navy veteran during World War II and a member of the American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68. Junior was an oil and gas operator for 65 years and owner of Milburn Oil Co.
On Nov. 26, 1948, he married Verna Elizabeth Gorges in Clayton, N.M.
Other survivors include: their son and his wife, Michael W. and Laura of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a brother, Merle E. Sr. of Hutchinson; a sister, Joan Jensen of Denver, Colo.; five grandchildren, Melinda LeeAnn "Lindy" Milburn, Dr. Matthew G. Milburn, Christopher L. Milburn, Garrett Kuehn-Milburn, and Dr. Jessica Milburn Villalobos and her husband Samuel.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dr. Gary L. Milburn; and a brother, Clarence E.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2014, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Reverend R. Samuel Askew presiding. Burial will be in the Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson, with military honors conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Partridge Community Church or Hospice of Reno County, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
