Obituary

INMAN - Harold Eugene Swepston, 72, died Oct. 9, 2005, at his home, Inman.

He was born Oct. 20, 1932, in Tahlequah, Okla., the son of Henry F. and Mildred I. Johnson Swepston. A longtime resident of Inman, he was a retired United Association of Journeyman Plumbers, Pipe Fitters and Welders after 55 years.

He belonged to Westbrook Baptist Church, Hutchinson. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

On Sept. 1, 1951, he married Bertie E. Vandepool in Tahlequah, Okla. She survives.

Other survivors include: two sons, Kevin Duane Swepston, Hutchinson, and Harold Kent Swepston, Glenpool, Okla.; two daughters, Karen Lea Brown, Hutchinson, and Kathy Sue McEwan, Moran; three brothers, Major Jerry Wayne Swepston, Sapulpa, Okla., Ralph Swepston, Oklahoma City, and Homer Franklin Swepston, Tulsa, Okla.; a sister, Barbara Ann Swepston, Oklahoma City; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Kenneth, Jess, Michael and Darrell; and a sister, Peggy Swepston.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Westbrook Baptist Church, Hutchinson, with Pastors Andy Addis and Bob Shelton presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson, with military rites conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard.
