Obituary

Harold Wesley "Hal" Marshall, 85, died January 6, 2013, at Hospice House. He was born May 4, 1927, on a farm near Sylvia, KS to Gilbert and Ethel Tuttle Marshall. He was a 1945 graduate of Sylvia High School. Harold served in the United States Navy serving in WWII and the Korean Conflict. In 1950 he married Imogene Walker in Omaha, NE, she died. He later married Martha Jean Warner in 1986 in Hutchinson. She survives.

He worked at Colorado Fuel and Iron Co., and attended the Electronic, Radio and TV Institute in Omaha and was the Senior operations technician for Western Union and retired after 28 years of service.

He attended New Covenant Presbyterian Church, and he enjoyed playing the trumpet and doing puzzles at Burger King with friends. He was involved with lots of volunteer work with the Senior Patrol, Interfaith housing, the State Fair, mission trips to Jamaica, and Friendship Meals and also did various volunteer works in Nebraska. And loved square dancing and was the president of the square dancing club in Nebraska, he also loved camping and was the president of the Camping Club in Nebraska.

Other survivors include daughters, Debbie Lentz and husband Steve, Vicki Ingram and husband Emmett all of Omaha, NE; Cindy White, Freemont, NE; step-son, Phillip Warner, Cumberland, WI; step-daughters, Nancy Lewis and husband Ted, Rice Lake, WI; and Sue Daniel, Garden City, KS; six grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Imogene, one brother and three sisters.

Cremation has taken place.

Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at New Covenant Presbyterian Church, 700 E. 25th, Hutchinson, KS, with Pastor Joseph Rychcik presiding. Burial will be in Forestlawn Cemetery, Omaha, NE at a later time. Friends may sign the book today 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to Interfaith Housing or New Covenant Presbyterian Church in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
