Obituary

Harold L. Yoder, 77, died Jan. 21, 2007, at his home.

He was born Aug. 24, 1929, in Hutchinson, the son of Reuben D. and Katie A. Miller Yoder. He attended Hesston College. A lifetime Hutchinson and Yoder resident, he was a farmer and owner of Yoder Excavating.

He belonged to Countryside Baptist and attended First Mennonite Church. He sang with and was past president of the Hutchinson Oratorical Society and was a charter member of the Elder Statesman Quartet.

On Aug. 25, 1957, he married Gladys Schletzbaum at Trinity United Methodist Church in Hutchinson. She survives.

Other survivors include: mother-in-law, Mae Schletzbaum, Hutchinson; a brother, Norman Yoder and wife Annie, Yoder; a sister, Erma L. Seigler, Tucson, Ariz.; five grandchildren, Matt Ford, Justin and Patrick Yoder, all of Hutchinson, Sarah Ford, McPherson, and Kylie Ford, Hutchinson.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jim L. Yoder, and a daughter, Sharon Ford.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Mennonite Church, Hutchinson, with Pastor Debbie Schmidt officiating. Visitation is from noon to 9 p.m. today, with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson.
