Harry L. "Buzz" Jones, 76, of Harlingen, TX, formerly of Hutchinson, died June 4, 2010, at Via Christi-St. Francis Campus in Wichita. He was born Jan. 15, 1934, in Hutchinson, the son of Harry E. and Marguritte Borders Jones. He was a retired truck driver with Graves Truckline, and was currently working as a seasonal park attendant at Wilson Reservoir at Wilson, Kan. He and his wife had moved from Hutchinson to Harlingen, TX in 2000. He was a Hutchinson High School graduate in the class of 1951, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Combs, TX. He loved throwing horse shoes, and was a member of Sunflower Horse Shoe Club in Wichita and Diamondback Horse Shoe Club in Hutchinson.
He married Kathryn Yvonne Goering on June 10, 1953, in Hutchinson. She survives. Other survivors include: a son, Kelly Jones and wife Eva; daughters, Sherri Newquist and husband Dave, all of Hutchinson, and Janice Burkes and husband Jerry, Hot Springs, Ark.; sisters, Marieta Luna and companion Maria, Tucson, Ariz., and Toni Drake and husband Richard, Hutchinson; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren; beloved cats, Peaches, Bingo, and Nicholas. He was preceded in death by: his parents; a brother, Dick Jones; a sister, Clo Ann Ford; and a son, Ed Jones.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial graveside service will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at Mitchell Cemetery, Hutchinson, with Rev. Onie Cooper presiding. Friends may sign a register book 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday through Tuesday, and the family will greet friends Tuesday 6:30 to 8 p.m., all at Elliott Mortuary.
