Obituary

Harry L. "Ozzie" Oswalt, 83, died
Aug. 3, 2006, at Hospice House.

He was born Jan. 30, 1923 in Dearborn, Mich. the son of Harry and Irene Chapman Oswalt. He graduated from Garden City High School and attended Kansas State and Kansas University. After growing up in Ponca City, Okla., he moved to Garden City and then moved to Arlington in 1981. He established Oswalt Industries in 1952, in Garden City, and then later owned and operated Kan Sun Feedyards, also in Garden City. In June of 1971, he purchased the Hutchinson Foundry, which later was named "Go Steel," and had formed Mega Manufacturing with Kenneth Green and Robert Brown, where he developed the Piranha Iron Worker.

He was a charter member of the National Rifle Association and was a member of the Baja Bush Pilots and the Bass Club of Garden City. He was a second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

He married Ellen Hastings in Garden City. She survives

Other survivors include: a daughter, Holly Oswalt; a step daughter, Joslyn Dewey; and three grandchildren, Adam, Luke and Hannah Pickett.

He was preceded in death by a brother, John Oswalt and a sister, Bonnie Oswalt Creigh Stahl.

Memorial service will be at a later date. Cremation has taken place. Friends may sign the register from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
