Harvey Allen Krenzin passed away at the age of 94 on Sept. 22, 2010, at Dillon Living Center.
He was born March 24, 1916, to Fred and Lydia Brecheisen Krenzin in Edwards County, Kansas, about equal distance between Kinsley and Offerle.
A 1934 graduate of Offerle High School, Harvey moved with his parents to Reno County in 1936, where they lived and farmed southwest of Nickerson.
On May 23, 1943, he married Mary Louise Dellenbach in a country wedding at her home near Abbyville.
Harvey and Mary Louise resided in the Abbyville community most of their married life together, where they farmed and were active members of Abbyville Christian Church until they began attending South Hutchinson Christian Church and became members there in 1985. Over the years, Harvey's work in the church included serving as an elder, deacon, treasurer, song leader and on the church board. After retiring from farming, Harvey remained busy in the Abbyville community doing volunteer work such as grading streets, mowing the rodeo grounds and Abbyville Community Building grounds, and removing snow. For a number of years he was an avid collector of antique Massey Harris tractors, restoring them and driving them in parades or entering pulling contests. In April 2002 Harvey and Mary Louise moved to Dillon Living Center, Hutchinson, where Harvey continued to be active in ministry. If needed, he was a song leader for the Sunday afternoon church services, and he was known for offering a morning prayer at breakfast in the assisted living dining room.
Mary Louise (age 96) continues to reside at Dillon Living Center. She will greatly miss her husband of 67 years. Daughter Linda Louise Krenzin has lived in Minneapolis, Minnesota, since 1972, making frequent visits to the Hutchinson area. Harvey's sister, Ella Mae (Krenzin) Schwartz, resides in Hutchinson. She has devoted many hours of her time to helping care for Harvey and Mary Louise in their later years.
Harvey's parents, Fred and Lydia, and sister Eva (Krenzin) Spessard, all preceded him in death. In addition to his loving wife, daughter and sister, Harvey is survived by five nieces and a nephew: Eva's children, Theda (Ed Shultz), Nedra (Brad Angell), Judy (Mike Smith), and Ella Mae's children, Shirley (Bob Basgall), Vickie (Lew Pearce), and Danny (Rita) Schwartz.
In the words of someone who remembers Harvey fondly, "Harvey was someone who set the standard as to how to be a good friend."
To God be the glory.
