Harvey Penner, died Dec. 19, 2011, with his loving daughter by his side, at Good Samaritan Center, a loving and caring home.
He was born Aug. 27, 1936, in Medora, Kansas, the son of Cornelieus Jacob and Helena Penner.
He was a salesman for Guy's Potato Chips and was the maintenance man for Emanuel Lutheran Church. Harvey was a member of Westside Baptist Church and the Horseless Carriage Club. He enjoyed talking with his many friends at Emanuel Lutheran Church. Harvey loved flowers and had a wide variety in his yard. Harvey daily would visit with his "coffee guys" and his long time neighbors.
On April 21, 1968, he married Helen Marie Baker in Hutchinson. She died Nov. 16, 1986.
Harvey's first love was his son and daughter and four grandchildren: son, Mike Penner of Knoxville, Tenn.; daughter, Bobbi Gann and husband Guy of Hutchinson; and grandchildren, Jacob Penner, Faith Penner, and Caleb Penner, all of Maryville, Tenn., and Dustin Gann of Topeka, Kansas. Other survivors include: sisters, Lorena (Weige) Bing of Texas, Doris Pennington of California; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and three brothers, Gus, Carl and Alvin Penner.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, with Pastor Tim Adrian and Mike Penner presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Chapel. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park.
Memorials may be made to Westside Baptist Church Youth Group, in care of the mortuary.
