SOUTH HUTCHINSON - Harvey J. Rempel, 84, of South Hutchinson, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009, at Promise Regional Medical Center in Hutchinson.

He was born July 29, 1924, in Colony, Okla., the son of Henry and Mary Kliewer Rempel. He graduated from Corn (Okla.) High School in the Class of 1942. He retired from Cessna Fluid Power as a section foreman after working there 32 years.

He was a member of the Berean Baptist Church in Hutchinson. He was an avid golfer, and was a volunteer at the Food Bank.

On Aug. 8, 1963, he married Velma M. Hildebrand in Hutchinson. She survives.

Other survivors include: four sons, Randy, Las Vegas, Nev., Barry and wife Joyce, Wichita, Jeff and wife Monica, San Antonio, Texas, and Gregg and wife Tanya, Wichita; two sisters, Leona Unger, Clinton, Okla., and Virgie Ezell, Glendale, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a twin brother, Harry, and two sisters, Vinnie Rempel and Ruby Reimer.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009, at the Berean Baptist Church in Hutchinson, with Pastor Roger Neir and Don Johnson presiding. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Mr. Rempel will lie in state 1 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, where the family will greet friends 6 to 7:30 p.m. also on Wednesday.
