Obituary

Hazel Letha Sturdevant Bradley Moore was born April 7, 1912, the sixth of seven children to the late Thomas M. and Stella Dugan Sturdevant in Windyville, Mo. She was preceded in death by her four sisters, and brothers-in-law, and two brothers and sisters-in-law. She was a 1931 graduate of Windyville High School, Windyville, Mo.

On Feb. 5, 1934, she married Bert Bradley in Buffalo, Mo. He died Dec. 31, 1937. She then married James Melvin "Mel" Moore on Feb. 2, 1952, in Newkirk, Okla. He died Aug. 19, 1989.

After working as a PBX operator for many years in Buffalo, Mo., she went to beauty school and earned her license. In 1948, she came to Hutchinson, Kan.

She was a member of the First Christian Church. A past president of ABWA, American Business Women's Association; member of WIBC, Women's International Bowling Congress; and a member of Carey Park Golf Association. She entered into Wesley Towers in July 2006 and retired there until her death April 20, 2007.

She leaves her many friends, nieces, nephews, daughter, Colleen Heidebrecht and son-in-law Glen, Kansas City, Mo.; one granddaughter; two grandsons; a great-granddaughter; and a great-grandson.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, with the family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary Chapel. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Oaklawn Cemetery, Buffalo, Mo.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Wesley Towers for their kindness and also the Hospice Care of Kansas. Memorials can be made to Wesley Towers or Hospice Care of Kansas, all in care of the funeral home.
