Obituary

Heidi Ann (Thieszen) Cooper, 47, died Feb. 15, 2015, at Via Christi St. Francis, Wichita. She was born Feb. 4, 1968, in Sidney, Neb., to Albert and M. Jean (Buller) Thieszen.

She graduated from Bethel College in 1990 with a bachelor's degree in social work. She loved playing basketball at Bethel and went on to be the assistant coach of the girl's basketball team after graduation. Heidi was an Adoption Supervisor for Saint Francis Community Services. Heidi enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed watching her two children in all of their activities and sporting events, as well as attending any professional or collegiate athletic events.

She married Chris Cooper on Sept. 17, 1994, in Henderson, Neb. He survives. Other survivors include: a daughter, Paige Cooper; son, Michael Cooper, both of the home; father, Albert Thieszen of Henderson, Neb.; brother, Eric Thieszen and wife Patti of Mooresville, Ind.; mother and father-in-law, Reggie and Rita Cooper of Newton; sister-in-law, Carol Schmidt and husband David of Pratt; niece, Morgan Schmidt; and a nephew, Matthew Schmidt, both of Pratt. She was preceded in death by her mother, M. Jean Thieszen.

A visitation with the family present will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2015, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. A second visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, 2015, at the First Mennonite Church, 52 Rambler Rd., Hutchinson, with the graveside service following this visitation at 11 a.m. Thursday in Newton. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, 2015, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1602 N. Main, Hutchinson, with Pastor Tonya Ramer Wenger, Pastor Nathan Koontz and the Reverend Dr. Kim Biery presiding. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Mennonite Church Scholarship Fund, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
