Helen Jean (Wedelin) Burnett passed away July 28, 2008.
She was born Jan. 7, 1916, at Climax, Kan., the daughter of Peter and Jean B. Drysdale Wedelin. She was a member of the Arlington United Methodist Church and a member of Eastern Star.
After graduating from Emporia State Teacher's College, she taught 14 years in the Kansas school system and later substituted in the USD 310 school district. On May 24, 1947, she married Warren Burnett. Together they farmed and raised their family.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1987, her mother and father, two brothers, George and Elmer Wedelin, and sister, Irene Wedelin.
Survivors are two sons, Kent and Keith; daughter-in-law, Kelby of Arlington; daughter, Evelyn Mize and son-in-law, Philip of Cheney; two granddaughters, Jennifer Sowers of Cheney and Kirsten Runyan (Phil) of Edmond, Okla.; and five great-grandchildren, Riley, Hunter, Peyton, Kyle and Caden.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 31, 2008, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. The graveside service will be held at Arlington Cemetery on Aug. 1, 2008, at 11 a.m.
Memorials may be sent to Hospice of Reno County in care of the mortuary.
