Helen Alberta Cornwell, 60, died Feb. 1, 2008, at the Good Samaritan Village.
She was born July 11, 1947, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Alva Howard and Margery Alta George Giles. She graduated in 1966, from Hutchinson High School. She was a lifetime resident of Hutchinson.
She belonged to Bethany Church of the Nazarene, the Red Hat Society, and the Women's Bible Study at the church.
Survivors include: a daughter, Sheila Gamblin-Weber, Hutchinson; four brothers, Howard, South Hutchinson, Edward, Oklahoma City, Darrell, Liberal, and Allan, West Plains, Mo.; four sisters, Annabelle Mitchell, North Dakota, Dorothy Burton, Ohio, Carolina Lane, Calhoun, Mo., and Connie Smith, Burrton; two sisters-in-law, Charlotte Giles, South Hutchinson, and Marian Giles, Hutchinson; a caregiver, Eddie Morris, Hutchinson; three grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers, Wilbur Bruce, George Francis, Robert Franklin, Vernon Eugene, Larry Douglas, Gary Lynn and Donald Leroy, and a sister, Louise Giles.
Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bethany Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Darrell Bisel presiding. Friends may sign the register from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, Monday and Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Cremation has taken place. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
