Obituary

Helen R. Field, 72, died Jan. 15, 2012, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center, Shawnee, Kansas.

She was born Jan. 6, 1940, on the farm in Jewell County, Kansas, the daughter of Dewey and Irene Rice Seems.

Helen was a caregiver for TECH and also worked as a CNA and Rehab Aide for several nursing homes in the area. She was a former Girl Scout Leader and a member of the Sacred Heart Altar Society in Esbon, Kansas.

In 1957, she married Paul Tompkins. She then married Gene R. Field on April 11, 1981, in Reno County, Kansas. He survives. Other survivors include: daughter, Yvette Korb and husband Stephen of Lenexa, Kansas; four stepchildren, Rusty Field and wife Jenny, Paula Carnes and husband Jerry, Terry Field and wife Debbie, all of Hutchinson, and Stacey Lee and husband Bob of St. Louis, Mo.; brother, Lynn Seems of Lebanon, Kansas; sister, Rosemary Paget of Smith Center, Kansas; and eight step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Leo and Alan Seems, and a sister, Agatha Kurmm.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel. Friends may call 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park.

Memorials may be made to the American Red Cross or the Alzheimer's Association, in care of the mortuary.
