Obituary

Helen Arlene Flickinger, 86, died Aug. 2, 2014, at Mennonite Friendship Communities, South Hutchinson. She was born Dec. 18, 1927, in rural Reno County, to Edward and Louise (Kaufman) Schwartz.

She was a 1945 graduate of Pretty Prairie High School and attended Bethel College. She was a former member of First Mennonite Church of Pretty Prairie and a current member of First Mennonite Church of Hutchinson. She was a homemaker and co-owner/operator of Flickinger Upholstery.

On Aug. 4, 1949, she married Melvin R. Flickinger in Pretty Prairie, Kan. He survives. Other survivors include: daughters, Dee Dueck of Tulsa, Okla., Colleen Graber and husband Tom of Wichita, Judy Campbell and husband Doug of Nevada, Mo., Mary Krehbiel and husband Kirby of Hutchinson; son, Mark Flickinger of Wichita; sister, Velma Ratzlaff and husband Richard of Pretty Prairie; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Bradley J. Flickinger; sister, Cora Schrag; and son-in-law, Ron Dueck.

Graveside service will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014, at First Mennonite Church Cemetery, Pretty Prairie. Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014, at First Mennonite Church of Hutchinson, 52 Rambler Rd, Hutchinson, with Pastor Nathan Koontz presiding. Friends may sign the memorial book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014, at Elliott Mortuary, with the family to receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. at First Mennonite Church, Hutchinson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Quiet Place Singers Scholarship Fund or donor's choice, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
