Helen M. Keefer's Obituary
Helen M. Keefer, 87, died Nov. 18, 2006, at the Good Samaritan Center, Hutchinson.
She was born Oct. 13, 1919, in McAllen, Texas, the daughter of James L. and Margaret Teresa Powers Simmons. She graduated from St. Mary High School, and attended Our Lady of the Lake College, both in San Antonio. A resident of Hutchinson since 1955, moving from Paris, Texas, she worked in the insurance division of the Bankers Investment Co. and the finance division of Security Pacific Corporation, retiring in 1982.
She belonged to Church of the Holy Cross, Altar Society, RSVP and was past president of the Insurance Women of Hutchinson, all in Hutchinson.
On Jan. 5, 1944, she married Howard D. Keefer in San Antonio. He died March 5, 1992.
Survivors include: friends, Arthur and Connie Cannup, Goddard; and their children, Ron and Melissa Cannup, and Jeff and Denise Bennett, all of Wichita.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Church of the Holy Cross, Hutchinson, with Father Joseph Eckberg presiding. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum.
Memorials may be sent to Church of the Holy Cross or to Hospice Care of Kansas, both in care of the funeral home.
