Helen Leonard, 82, died April 15, 2009, at Mennonite Manor, South Hutchinson. She was born April 18, 1926, in Larned, the daughter of John and Theresa A. Barstow Gleason.

She graduated from Larned High School and attended Adela Hale Business College. A longtime resident of Hutchinson and South Hutchinson, she was a homemaker and seamstress for many people in Hutchinson.

On Nov. 4, 1946, she married Robert B. Leonard in Hutchinson. He died Feb. 8, 1989.

Survivors include: two daughters, Nancy Self, Hutchinson, and Kay Becker and her husband Barry, Hutchinson; four grandchildren, Kellie Pankratz and husband David, Cheney, Holly Hajjaj, Wichita, Wendy White and husband Josh, Wichita, and Jay Self, Hutchinson; and six great-grandchildren, Nicholas Pankratz, Daniel Pankratz, Thomas Pankratz, Noel Pankratz, Lily Pankratz, and Amelie White.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and a sister.

Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2009, in Point View Cemetery, Radium. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Hospice Care of Kansas, or the donor's choice, both in care of the mortuary.
