Helen Marie Shaffer Murphy, 95, passed away, April 1, 2013, at Mennonite Friendship Community, South Hutchinson. She was born April 6, 1917, in rural route Corning and married William Z. Murphy June 18, 1936, in Centralia.

Helen and William owned and operated Hutch Homes, Hutchinson, for many years. She was a member of the South Hutchinson United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star since 1945, was a member of Altrusa International and the Hutchinson Golf Association at Carey Park.

She is survived by: a son, G.W. "Bill" (Nancy) of Hutchinson; and three daughters, DeLila M. Offutt of Stanley, Sheryl A. (Bob) Plotner of Ingalls, and Armeta L. (Dennis) Lister of Elk City, Okla.; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Doris Coleman of Edmond, Okla.; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: her husband, William Z. in 1989; her son-in-law, Bob Offutt in 1996; a sister and four brothers.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 5, 2013, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Warren Hett officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery, Hutchinson. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary. Memorial gifts may be made to the church or Mennonite Friendship Community, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N.
