Henry "Hank" F. Funderburg, 88, died Oct. 24, 2007, at Thorne Care Center, Wesley Towers.
He was born June 10, 1919, in rural Vinita, Okla., the son of Edward and Ida Gertz Funderburg. He graduated from White Oak High School, White Oak, Okla., in 1939, and then from Northeastern Junior College, Miami, Okla., and Southeastern University, Tahlequah, Okla. A resident of Hutchinson, moving from Goddard, and formerly of Wichita, he taught school in Salina, Okla., and Junior High School in Oklahoma City, and then worked for Boeing as a weights engineer until retiring in 1979.
He belonged to First United Methodist Church, Hutchinson, was a former member of the Goddard United Methodist Church, and was a lifetime member of the Lions Club International, Goddard, serving as past president and was elected district governor. He served in the U.S. Air Force where he was stationed at Ellington Air Force Base, Houston.
On April 21, 1961, he married Lois June Geesling in Wichita. She survives.
Other survivors include: two brothers, Dr. RG, Wichita, and Ernest Edward "George," Riverside, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Earl.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Wesley Towers Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Robert B. Brooks, and the Rev. Mark Conard presiding. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Turon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
Memorials may be sent to the Good Samaritan Fund at Wesley Towers,Goddard United Methodist Church and First United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
