Herbert "Herb" Schrag, 86, of Hutchinson, died Jan. 8, 2017, at Brookdale of Hutchinson. He was born March 21, 1930, in Pretty Prairie, to Benjamin A. and Carrie (Graber) Schrag. Herb graduated from Castleton High School and attended Grace Bible Institute. He was employed by Dillons grocery stores for many years, most recently as store manager at the 13th and Main store location. He was a member of First Mennonite Church.
On June 12, 1955, he married Joan B. Biss in Pretty Prairie. She died Nov. 26, 2009. Herb is survived by: daughters, Deborah Williams and husband Bob of Henderson, NV, Diane Coffman and husband Rich of Auburn; sister, Mary Pauls of Manitoba, Canada; and sister-in-law, Patti Biss of Port St. Lucie, FL. He was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Daniel, Dave, Harvey, Willard, Richard, and Johnny Schrag; sisters, Bertha Schrag, Adina Flickinger, and Ann Friesen.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13, 2017, at First Mennonite Church, 52 Rambler Rd., Hutchinson, with Pastor Nathan Koontz and Minister Ben Friesen officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
