Obituary

Herbert G. "Herb" Stratton, 80, died March 13, 2009. He was born Oct. 31, 1928, in Meade, the son of Loren and Ola Taylor Stratton.

He graduated from McPherson High School. A resident of Hutchinson, he was the owner of J&H Moving for over 40 years.

He belonged to Bethany Church of the Nazarene. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

On Aug. 7, 1954, he married Naomi Lee Sullivan in Shawnee, Okla. She survives. Other survivors include: a son, Carey Garland Stratton, Hutchinson; two daughters, Shree Ranee Avery and husband David, Lyons, and Tammy Louise Robinson and husband Clayton, Hutchinson; a sister, Mary Lou Schmidt and husband Harvey, McPherson; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Edgar and Harold Stratton and a grandson.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday March 18, 2009, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Darrell Bisel presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary, with the family present to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Buhler East Cemetery, with military graveside rites conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard.
