Obituary

Howard E. Bush, 92, died Sept. 21, 2010, at his home in Hutchinson. He was born Oct. 9, 1917, in Hutchinson, to Edward and Lovena Humphrey Bush. Howard was a member of the Mitchell United Methodist Chapel, Hutchinson. He was a truck driver, owned a radiator repair shop, and a service station. He then was a vocational automotive teacher at Hutchinson Correctional Facility.


Howard served in the United States Navy from 1944-1946. He was a member of the American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68, Hutchinson-Reno Masonic Lodge #124 A.F. & A.M., Kansas York Rite Chapter #34, and Treasure Lake Camping Club.

On Nov. 23, 1940, he married Lucille M. McCord in Hutchinson. She died March 22, 2003. He married Leona Kreamer on Sept. 29, 2006, in Miami, Okla. She survives. Other survivors include: granddaughter, Shelley Rahill and husband Chuck, Edmond, Okla.; son-in-law, Gene Stanford and wife Nancy, Edmond, Okla.; sister-in-law, Artie Lee Bush; great-grandchildren, Ellie and Davis Rahill, Edmond, Okla.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Howard was preceded in death by his first wife, a daughter, Donna Stanford, two brothers, Richard and Herb, and a sister, Juanita.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, Sept. 24, 2010 at Elliott Chapel with Chaplain Bob Phipps officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, with military honors by the United States Navy. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday, with the family to receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
