Ida Mae Frick, 93, died Sept. 23, 2010, at Pleasant View Home, Inman. She was born June 13, 1917, in Wilson, KS to Joe and Emma Haska Purma. She graduated from Salt City Business College.
On Dec. 13, 1941, she married Norval Frick. He died Jan. 6, 1963.
Ida Mae taught country school in Ellsworth County, then was a reporter for The Hutchinson News. She was a secretary in Hutchinson and Washington, D.C., for Bob Dole when he was a congressman and senator. She was also a secretary for Garner Shriver, Keith Sebelius and Pat Roberts. She was a past president of Hutchinson BPW, Kansas Newspaper Women and Kansas Press Women. She served on the Salina Bicentennial Commission Board and was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist, Hutchinson.
Survivors include: son, James D. "Jim" Frick (Jane), Hutchinson; brother, Joe Purma, Fair Grove, Mo.; sister, Dorothy Doll, Wichita; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ida Mae was preceded in death by two sisters, Elsie Oshel (Frank) and Ruth Miller (Danny), and brother-in-law, Ervin Doll.
Private family graveside service will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary.
