Imogene Wave
(Weyrich) Crockett

Imogene Wave (Weyrich) Crockett, 90, formerly of Kinsley, died April 16, 2019, at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community, Buhler, surrounded by family. She was born May 31, 1928, in Kinsley, to Frank Weyrich and Edith (Reinecke) Weyrich. Imogene graduated from Kinsley High School in 1946.
Imogene married Dwight Crockett in Kinsley on August 23, 1947, at the age of 19. They remained married until the time of Dwight's death in 1982. Their union blessed them with three daughters: Linda Diane, Phyllis Jean, and Marilyn Marie. Dwight and Imogene raised their three girls in Kinsley, where Imogene worked at the local doctor's office. In 1994, Imogene moved to Hutchinson to be closer to her children and grandchildren.
Imogene was a member of Holy Nativity Episcopal Church, Kinsley. She loved her family fiercely. She enjoyed playing cards, watching NASCAR, and listening to Al Jolson. Through the ups and downs of life, Imogene's keen sense of humor helped her manage all situations. Her feisty spirit made her very popular among all crowds. Imogene was one of the most selfless humans on the planet, and would go without to provide for her family. She was well loved by the staff at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community for the past two years, and her family is forever grateful for their care.
Imogene is survived by: daughters, Phyllis J. Bauer of Hutchinson and Marilyn Burkhart (Jim) of Goddard; grandchildren, Celeste Hughes of Hutchinson, Abbey Travis (Scott) of Colwich, Adam Hurley (Jessica) of Lenexa, Carrie Hancock of Centralia, IL, Jackie Christiansen (Bret) of McPherson; great-grandchildren, Tessa Hughes, Tinley Wave Travis, Jaxson Hancock, Tayla Hughes, Tanner Travis, Gentri Wave Christiansen, Harper Hurley, Hattie Christiansen, Rowan Hurley, Bodie Christiansen; and sister, Mary Katherine Weyrich of North Carolina.
Imogene was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Dwight Crockett; daughter, Linda Crockett; two brothers; grandson-in-law, Jared Hughes; and great-grandson, Oliver Hurley.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 2019, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Dr. J. Ted Blakley officiating. Graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Hillside Cemetery, Kinsley, with Father John Seatvet officiating. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, with the family present from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community, Buhler, or Grace Episcopal Church, Hutchinson, in care of Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
