Irene Florence Nobles, 95, died July 4, 2012, at Elm Grove Estates Emeritus, Hutchinson. She was born June 20, 1917, in rural Quinter, Kansas, the daughter of Phillip George and Myrtle (Bunker) Brown. Irene was a homemaker and had worked for JCPenny's doing alterations. She was a longtime member of South Hutchinson United Methodist Church.
In 1939, she married Frank Mothershead, they later divorced. She then married William G. "Bill" Nobles on March 21, 1959, in Reno, Nevada. He died November 10, 1987.
Survivors include: a son-in-law, Darrel Fillmore of Wichita; two grandchildren, Pamela Shadoin and husband Dan, and Lynn Fillmore and wife Kari; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, David William Nobles and a daughter, Carolyn Kay (Mothershead) Fillmore, three brothers, Walter, Earl and John Brown, two sisters, Pearl Miller and Grace Hines.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at South Hutchinson United Methodist Church, with Pastor Warren Hett presiding. Family will greet friends from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Stafford Cemetery, Stafford, Ks. Friends may sign the book 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday at Elliott Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to South Hutchinson United Methodist Church, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
