Irene Wilson passed away Nov. 9, 2011, in Stockbridge, Ga., at the age of 98.
She was born May 19, 1913, in Hutchinson, to Arthur A. and Beulah Ackerman Schanbacher.
She graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1931 and was active in their reunions until the 60th. A member of Westside Baptist Church, she was a DVBS teacher and Sunday school teacher. Her love of the Lord and her church was foremost in her life and then her family. She was "Miss Hospitality" with dinners for family and friends throughout the years. Irene was the manager of Friendship Meals until her retirement at age 90.
Survivors include: two daughters, Karen King of Los Angeles, Calif., and Lois Murphy and husband Jim of Stockbridge, Ga.; grandson, Jim Jr. and wife Ramona of Wichita; granddaughter, Betty Dwoske and husband Don of Canton, Mass.; five great-grandchildren, Rebecca Boyle, Rachel Hornbaker and husband Darrel, all of Wichita, Molly, Genevieve (Evey) and Clark Dwoske; four great-great-grandchildren, Sydney and Joseph Boyle and Kara and Ashlyn Hornbaker. Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her husband, Bus; her parents; daughter, Beverly Ann; sisters, Evelyn Schanbacher, Elsie Hedger, Dorothy Carithers and Norma Teter.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011, at Westside Baptist Church, with Pastor Tim Adrian officiating. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson.
