BUHLER - Irvin A. "Irv" Pauls, 80, died June 13, 2006, at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Inman.
He was born Dec. 30, 1925, in rural Reno County, near Buhler, the son of A.J. and Marguerite Reg-ehr Pauls. A lifetime Buhler area resident, he was a hardware salesman for Colladay Hardware Co. for 36 years, retiring in 1990. Following his retirement, he worked for the city of Buhler and Elliott Mortuary.
He belonged to Bethel Mennonite Church, Inman, was a 34-year member of Kansas Mennonite Men's Chorus, member of the Salt Minors Barbershop Chorus, was a volunteer for the Mennonite Central Committee, Mennonite Disaster Service and the House Against Hunger Program. During World War II, he served in the Civilian Public Service Corps in Colorado Springs.
On March 16, 1947, he married Louise Schroeder in Adams, Okla. She survives.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Gaylene Van Horn, Lenexa, and Shirley Grubbs and husband, Kim, Lawrence; grandchildren, Anna Unruh and husband, Austin, Basehor, Thomas Grubbs and fiance, Elly Kjose, Lenexa, and Jacob Grubbs, Lawrence; a great-grandchild, Holly Rebekah Unruh, Basehor; brother-in-law, Gary Veendorp and wife, Lala, Wichita; and a sister, Tina Epp, Inman.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Art; and two sisters, Elizabeth Anna Pauls and Lena Veendorp.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Bethel Mennonite Church, Inman, with Pastors Alden Dick and Paul Isaak presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. The family will greet friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary. The casket will be open prior to the funeral on Friday at the church. Burial will be in Buhler Municipal Cemetery.
