Irvin Ray Schmidt, 88, of Hutchinson, died April 18, 2020, at his home. He was born August 26, 1931, in Greensburg, to Louis and Lodie (Wadel) Schmidt.
Irvin attended Greensburg High School. He was a truck driver for Kraft Foods and retired from Vulcan Chemicals. Irvin attended Journey Mennonite Church, South Hutchinson.
On October 1, 1951, he married Norma M. Ricketts, in Wichita. They shared 60 years together before her passing on, January 8, 2012.
Irvin is survived by: daughters, Melinda (David) Nachtrab, Clearwater, and Debra (Chuck) Hoover, Broken Arrow, OK; grandchildren, Johnathan (Lanetta) Nachtrab, Catoosa, OK, Jennifer (Eugenio) Arreguin, New Braunfels, TX, Alicia (Orman) Seese, Broken Arrow, OK, Laura (Evan) Hill, Sanford, FL, and Brooke (Cody) Hays, Sapulpa, OK; and five great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by: his parents; wife, Norma Schmidt; loving companion, LaDuska Pierce; and siblings, Virgil, Cecil, Vernon, John, Lena, Geneva, Melvin, James, Meril, Chester, and Pearl (infant sister).
Due to the situation concerning coronavirus a family burial will take place at a later date.
Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2020 through Saturday, April 25, 2020, at Elliott Mortuary.
Memorials are suggested to Hospice and HomeCare of Reno County, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
