Obituary

ARLINGTON - Isaac S. "Ike" Neufeld, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, 95, died Aug. 25, 2008, at Hospice House.

He was born Oct. 23, 1912, in York County, Neb., the son of John and Eva Neufeld.

An Arlington resident for over 47 years, he and his wife Mildred recently moved to the Good Samaritan Village, Hutchinson. He graduated in 1927 from the 8th grade. He was a retired Santa Fe Trail Transportation Company truck driver serving for 32 years. He was a farmer in the Arlington Community, and a woodcut picture artist with over 3,000 pieces of art located worldwide.

He belonged to the Arlington United Methodist Church and had attended Faith United Methodist Church. He belonged to the Good Sam Recreational Vehicle Club, International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Chauffeurs, Warehousemen, and Helpers of America.

Ike was devoted to his wife Mildred, his family, and friends. He was a friend to everyone he met and was always ready to lend a helping hand or a word of encouragement. Ike loved the outdoors, traveling, a game of cards, dominoes, playing a round of golf, and sharing his life's adventures and a cup of coffee with his family and friends.

On Dec. 24, 1937, he married Mildred L. Gitchell in Hutchinson. She survives.

Other survivors include: their children and spouses, Jim and Jan Neufeld, Three Forks, Mont., Nancy and Stan Ediger, Brighton, Colo., Ken and Carol Neufeld, Wichita, and Eva Neufeld and Diana Inserra, Omaha, Neb.; nine grandchildren, Jeanette, Jacquie, Jason, Joel, Todd, Travis, Kim, Aaron and Kerri; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, John, mother, Eva, brothers, Henry, Raymond, Abe, Dan and Harry, and sister, Esther.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday Aug. 29, 2008, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Revs. Ron Kite and Ken Keeling presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park.

Memorials may be sent to Hospice of Reno County or Arlington United Methodist Church, both in care of the mortuary.
