Iva G. Scates, 75, died Feb. 22, 2008, at Hospice House.
She was born Oct. 18, 1932, in Caldwell, the daughter of Jim T. and Mary Ann Ransford Corzine. She attended Caldwell schools. A longtime resident of Hutchinson, she was a machine operator at Consolidated Rebuilders Manufacturing, Hutchinson.
She belonged to the Loyal Order of the Moose No. 982, Hutchinson, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Bob Campbell Post No. 1361.
On Sept. 17, 1948, she married Charles E. "Chuck" Scates in Wichita. He died Dec. 27, 1995.
Survivors include: three sons, Marvin L. and wife Brenda, Mountain Home, Ark., Leonard D. and wife Lois, Hutchinson, and Albert L. and wife Laurel, Spring Hill; a daughter, Connie R. Marcotte and husband Myron, Hutchinson; a sister, Bessie Ruth Supon, Wellington; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Charles E. Scates, Jr., on May 18, 1968, and a granddaughter, Lisa Ann Marcotte on Feb. 1, 1979.
Cremation has taken place. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Wellington, with Pastor Don Cross presiding. Friends may sign the register from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and Sunday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
