SOUTH HUTCHINSON - J. Chester "Chet" Bengston, 84, died Aug. 9, 2007, at Hospice House.
He was born July 10, 1923, in rural Windom, the son of John William and Hildur Caroline Elkholm Bengston. A longtime rural Inman resident, he was a retired farmer.
He belonged to Andover Lutheran Church, rural Windom, serving as a trustee.
On June 5, 1955, he married Treva Carol Lewis in rural Windom. She died May 29, 2002.
Survivors include: two daughters, Julie Bernard and husband, Danny, South Hutchinson, and Anne Bothwell, Hutchinson; four brothers, Everet and Willard, both of Windom, and Arvid and Virgul, both of McPherson; a sister, Gloria Plooster, McPherson; and four grandchildren, Nichelle and Jonathan Bernard, and Courtney and Will Bothwell.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn Hannah.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Andover Lutheran Church, rural Windom. The casket will remain closed at the church, with Pastor Tom Hollowell presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday through Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with the family present from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Andover Lutheran Church Cemetery.
