Obituary

J. Park Coffey, 92, died July 31, 2013, at Hospice House. He was born May 16, 1921, in Hutchinson, to Park Andrew and Ollie (Burgin) Coffey.

Park graduated from Partridge High School and attended Hutchinson Community College and University of Kansas.

He served in the 13th U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Park was a member of American Legion Post #68, #40 and #8, and the V.F.W. He worked for Koch Industries Air Craft Division as an aircraft mechanic and was also a gunsmith. Park attended Crossroads Christian Church.

On Aug. 9, 2004, he married Cecelia A. Herpich in Hutchinson. She survives.

Other survivors include: sons, Rick Coffey and wife Shere of South Hutchinson, Steve Kyle and wife Mary Ann of Warr Acres, Okla.; stepsons, Brad Zimmerman and wife Karen of Wichita, Greg Zimmerman and wife Nancy of Hutchinson; step-daughter, Ladonna Sutton of South Hutchinson; three grandchildren; six step grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three step great-grandchildren. Park was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5, 2013, at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Wayne Pittman, Pastor Lee Keele and Pastor Kevin Guffey officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park. Friends may call 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
