WICHITA - J. Dwain Meisenheimer, 93, died Dec. 24, 2010, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. He was born Feb. 27, 1917, in Arlington, to Paul and Audra Cheatum Meisenheimer. He and his wife lived and farmed in Wichita County for 38 years. They moved to Hutchinson in 1980 and then to Wichita in 2007. He graduated from Pretty Prairie High School in 1935. He was a retired farmer. He was a member of Pleasant Valley United Methodist in Wichita County, Mitchell Methodist Chapel in Hutchinson and Calvary United Methodist Church in Wichita. While in Wichita County, he was a member of the school board, County Fair board, a county commissioner, a 4-H leader and on the board of the Northwest Area Technical College. In Hutchinson he was a member of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program and had many interests, including collecting antique cars, and was a member of the Horseless Carriage Club until 2000. Dwain was a loving husband, father and grandfather, as well as a good friend to many people. He served in the Army National Guard.
On Aug. 27, 1940, he married Marguerite Goering in Pretty Prairie. She survives. Other survivors include: a son, Maj. Robert Meisenheimer, Ret. U.S. Army and wife Lee, Colorado Springs, Colo.; daughters, Carole Utermark and husband Dave, Wichita, and Jeanie Reeves and husband Richard, Wichita; a brother, Wilbur, Pretty Prairie; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Clyde.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Larry Greenwood officiating. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at Elliott Chapel.
