Jack Okey Elliott, 83, of Hutchinson, died Feb. 19, 2018, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born Dec. 13, 1934, in Hutchinson, the son of Okey Lee and Sylbia G. (Hanning) Elliott.
Jack graduated from Buhler High School and attended Hutchinson Community College. He served in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959, and then in the reserves until 1963. Jack worked as a livestock buyer for Winchester Packing for many years. He also was a wool-buyer for Mid-States Wool. He retired as a truck driver for Dillon's. Jack grew up in the Bethany Nazarene Church and was a member of the American Legion Post 68, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 982, and Teamsters Local 795.
On April 6, 1959, he married Lynda Lou Dale in Kelso, Washington. She survives. Other survivors include: sons, Mark Elliott (Amy) of Hutchinson, Timothy Elliott (Elizabeth) of Prole, IA; daughter, Laniece Bakeberg of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Kyle Bakeberg, Ryan Bakeberg, Lanie Bakeberg, Sarah Blackford (Kyle), Zachary Elliott, Benjamin Elliott, Rachel Elliott, Nathaniel Elliott, Nicholas Elliott, Samuel Elliott; one great-grandchild on the way; and sister, Carol Redd of Buhler.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Floyd Redd.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, 2018, at Elliott Chapel. Military honors will be conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard. Friends may sign the memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday to Saturday at Elliott Mortuary.
