NICKERSON - Jack Leon Piatt, 71, died Tuesday, March 19, 2013. He was born Feb. 26, 1942, in Hutchinson, the son of James Lloyd and Madeline White Piatt.
A lifetime Reno County resident, he graduated in 1961 from Hutchinson High School and attended Hutchinson Community College. Jack was a Marine Corps veteran, a member of Nickerson United Methodist Church and was a service technician for Steris Corp., retiring in 2008.
On Sept. 14, 1984, he married Jan K. Ayers in Nickerson. She survives. Also surviving are: his children, Brooke Carreon (Ed), Brent (Linda), both of Las Vegas; stepchildren, David Griffin, Allen Bugner, both of Nickerson, Jennifer Garcia-Rueschhoff (Jason) of Hutchinson; brothers, twin, Joel (Cheryl) of Union, Ky., Dick McCoy (Elenor), Nancy Houston (Sam), both of Hutchinson; five grandchildren, Michael Bugner, Alexzandra Samra, Olivia Garcia, Isabella Garcia, Ashley Hoskins; and two great-grandsons, Nathan and Jaxson Hoskins. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Marjorie Mangels; stepdaughter, Gail Bugner; and grandson, Russell Griffin.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Nickerson United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Melissa L. Naylor officiating. Burial, with Marine honors, will be in Fairlawn Cemetery, Hutchinson. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
