He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was deployed to Pusan, South Korea, where he was assigned to work at the U.S. Army ammunition depot. He also had several small side businesses over his lifetime, including fence, pallet, and woodworking businesses. In his retirement, he managed the Sunflower North and Meadowlark Buildings during the Kansas State Fair.
Jack was a 50 year member of the American Legion Lysle Rischel Post #68. He took great pride in being a military veteran. Jack was involved in many community service projects. He enjoyed being outdoors, golfing, boating and camping, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
