LYONS - Jack Statton Hughes, 78, died April 24, 2007, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.
He was born April 25, 1928, in Emporia, the son of Horace and Mabelle Statton Hughes. He was a 1946 graduate of Emporia High School and attended Kansas State Teachers College, Emporia. A resident of Lyons since 1962, he was a machinist and toolmaker for Lyons Manufacturing with 32 years of service, retiring in 1991.
He was a life member of American Legion Post No. 129, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3184 and Lair's Fishing Club, all in Lyons; Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 982 and SFP Square Dance Club, both in Hutchinson. He was a U. S. Navy veteran, serving during World War II.
On June 20, 1958, he married Norma Pearson in Wichita. She survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Jack P. Hughes and Susie Barber, Derby, and Justin W. Hughes and wife, Cindy, Hutchinson, and Cindy's sons, Adam and Taylor Warnken.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Curtis Fitzgerald presiding. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the mortuary.
